Internet job ads decline in August

Despite talk of a housing construction boom, demand for labourers is still falling.

The federal Department of Employment's August vacancy report shows internet job advertisements for labourers dropped by 7.5 per cent in the month, to be 30.9 per cent lower from a year ago.

Overall job ads eased one per cent in August - to be 1.9 per cent lower over the year - with six out of the eight occupational groups monitored by the department declining, according to the report released on Wednesday.
