He was declared dead at the scene.

Strike Force Brobenah was established to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Today, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Lithgow Jail.

He was taken to Lithgow Police Station and charged with murder and assault with intent to rob in company causing wounding.

NSW Police will allege the younger man lured the alleged victim to the location in Griffith before trying to steal his car.

It's further alleged the older man was hit multiple times with a pole and stabbed in the chest, resulting in fatal injuries.

The man was refused bail to appear in Bathurst Local Court via video link today.

Investigations are continuing.
