Ikea recalls popular toy over choking hazard

A popular toy sold at Ikea has been recalled over concerns young children could choke on its small pieces.

The BLAVINGAD fishing game is sold online and in Ikea stores across the country.

The game consists of a small die, 11 fish-shaped magnets and two fishing rods which also use magnets to collect pieces.

The pieces could come loose and pose a potential suffocation or choking hazard to children.

"It has come to our attention that small rivets on the toy can come loose, which results in a potential choking hazard, especially for smaller children," Ikea said.

Product Safety Australia said it does not comply with mandatory standards for children up to 36 months of age and asked anyone who had purchased one to stop using it immediately.

Refunds can be collected from Ikea without proof of purchase.
