Iconic music festival locks in its future for half a decade
A Victorian city will host a major music festival under a new deal securing its future for half a decade.
Spilt Milk, which was first launched in 2016, will be held at Kardinia Park in south Geelong after a four-year run in Ballarat.

The festival has previously hosted major acts including rapper Kendrick Lamar last year.
The festival will be in the region until at least 2030 with support from tourism body Visit Victoria and City of Greater Geelong.
“Geelong is the perfect stage for the festival’s next five years,” Kicks Entertainment director and co-founder Ryan Sabet said.
“Their support means we can keep proving that a world-class festival doesn’t need a capital city and keep bringing tens of thousands of young people to regional Victoria every December.”
Geelong MP Christine Couzens said the deal was a fantastic opportunity for the region.
“These kinds of experiences give them the chance to connect with friends, create lasting memories, and enjoy world-class music close to home,” Couzens said.
“I’m proud that Geelong is attracting these major events.”
The announcement comes off the back of a tough time for music festivals in Australia.
Organisers of hip hop music festival Rolling Loud were forced to cancel in Sydney and Melbourne in March, a week before the events were set to take place.
Iconic and long-running music festival Bluesfest, which was due to take place in April, was also cancelled due to rising cost of production, insurance, logistics and touring.
Renowned arts, technology and culture festival SXSW Sydney was cancelled this year after a three-year run due to a “changing global environment” impacting major events worldwide.
Queensland’s iconic Big Red Bash music festival was cancelled due to widespread outback flooding.
Organisers had been attempting to relocate the festival from its Birdsville location after intense rainfall flooded the region.
