Husband charged after wife allegedly stabbed in Sydney home

A man has been charged after he allegedly stabbed his wife in Sydney’s west.

Pervin “Layla” Maroufi, 49, was allegedly repeatedly stabbed by her husband Mehdi Cheraghi at their home on Trumble Avenue in Ermington about 8pm on Saturday.

Ms Maroufi was taken to Westmead Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition with upper body injuries.

Her injuries are not considered life threatening.

Mr Cheraghi, 28, was arrested at the home and taken to Parramatta Police Station.

He was charged with wounding with intent to murder and refused bail.

He will appear in court again on Thursday.
