Hunt for suspect after violent car-jacking

Police have released images of man wanted for questioning over a violent armed car-jacking in Melbourne’s south-east.

A 57-year-old woman told investigators her car was initially rear-ended by a light coloured four-wheel-drive on Harrington Drive, Narre Warren South, about 9pm on July 26.

After she got out to check the damage, two men- one of them armed with a firearm-  approached the vehicle, demanding the woman’s keys.

The woman was then struck in the face, before the offenders fled in her vehicle. The four-wheel-drive followed.

The victim’s car was later spotted by officers driving with false plates along Stud Road, but managed to evade capture.

The VW was then reported in a collision a short time later, on the corner of Stud and Brady Road.

No one was reported injured.

Eventually the stolen car was found in a driveway, and a man was seen fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage has today been released of a man who police believe may have been involved, though it is not certain he was involved in the initial car-jacking.

He has described as of Asian in appearance, and aged in his mid-20’s.
