Human remains found at 'grave site' identified as Brisbane man Samuel Thompson

Human remains found at a grave site in bushland north of Brisbane have been identified as those of Queensland man Samuel Thompson.

An autopsy suggested the 22-year-old was assaulted but no cause of death had been established, police said this morning.

Mr Thompson, 23, has been missing since March 7, and two men have since been charged with his murder.

Police have charged former anti-Islamic State fighter Ashley Dyball, 25, and Roberto Vincenzo Boscaino, 23.

Anti-Islamic State fighter Ashley Mitchell Scott Dyball appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court last week charged with one count each of murder and interfering with a corpse.

The Albany Creek man was remanded into custody, a day after co-accused Roberto Vincenzo Boscaino, 23, was also remanded on the same charges.

Mr Dyball’s white Chrysler was captured on CCTV allegedly following Mr Thompson's distinctive orange 2016 Ford Mustang on the day he was last seen

The 25-year-old first gained public attention when he travelled to Syria to fight with the Kurdish military against Islamic State (ISIS) at the end of 2015

His passport was cancelled after being interviewed by Federal Police when he arrived back in Australia.
