Human remains found in storm water drain in Gladstone

Queensland police are investigating human remains found this morning in a storm water drain in south Gladstone.

Police closed an area of Gladstone Benaraby Road in Toolooa, just south of Gladstone, after the remains were found around 8.20am.

Several local media outlets including The Courier Mail reported the remains were uncovered due to a foul smell emanating from the drain.

Paramedics also attended the scene but were not required.

Detective Acting Inspector Luke Peachey is due to address the media.

The identity of the deceased is not yet known.
