'Human Headline' Derryn Hinch to run for Senate - but how much do you rate his chances?

Controversial broadcaster Derryn Hinch will run for the Senate in the next federal election and betting website, Sportsbet are wagering the Human Headline might actually make it.

Hinch announced his candidacy this morning, along with his new political party, the Justice Party.

He said he intends to campaign for a national public register of convicted sex offenders.

Bets are already being taken on the likelihood of Hinch’s success, with Sportbet giving the Human Headline 21 to one odds he will be elected to the Senate.

The betting company is also offering a 101 to one chance of a party rename before the next election.

Hinch’s political ambitions are not the only wagers on the line for the 2016 federal election, entrepreneur Dick Smith priced at $4.20 to run for former Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s seat of Waringah, with a $6 chance for him to win.

Former One National leader Pauline Hanson is now a $2.25 chance to run for and be elected to the Senate, according to Sportsbet.
