Huge cod washes up on Gold Coast beach after losing battle with shark

Evidence of a battle between a giant cod and a shark has washed up on a Gold Coast beach.

The shark was the evident victor in this scenario, with local passersby shocked to see the half-mauled cod washed on the shore of Narrowneck Beach this morning.

Nine Gold Coast's Luke Bradman captured video of the fish, which suffered huge bite marks as a result of the altercation.

It's unclear if the fish died as a result of the shark attack or was already dead before the shark's morning feed.

The shark is believed to be of considerable size to have taken down the huge cod.
