Melbourne go-karting centre blaze sparked by charging torches

A destructive fire at a go-karting centre in  Melbourne’s west was caused by torches left charging.

Twenty fire crews spent the evening battling the blaze at Fun City Formula E Indoor Go Karts on Ballarat Road and St Albans Road, Sunshine, a Melbourne Fire Brigade (MFB) spokesman told 9news.com.au.

The blaze broke out at the centre just before 7.30pm, and quickly spread.

Investigators have determined the fire, which threatened adjacent properties, was caused by torches left charging.

“Never leave items charging unattended,” the MFB advised in a statement this afternoon.

No one was in the complex at the time of the fire.
