How police changed their tactics as organised crime gangs continued to operate amid coronavirus lockdown

Coronavirus almost brought the world to a stand still but in the lull of lockdown Queensland's organised crime gangs have been busy breaking the law.

Deputy Commissioner Tracy Linford sat down exclusively with 9News to reveal how police have changed tactics to crack down on some of the state's worst criminals.

From illegal gym sessions and outlawed selfies, to hundred-thousand dollar drug busts, lockdown rules did not slow down business for police officers.

"We've executed a lot of warrants, over that eight week period, conducted a lot of operations and made a number of arrests," Ms Linford said.

But Ms Linford said the pandemic had made it tougher for criminals to operate.

"Typically organised criminals will try and use business to conduct their activities and so because a lot of businesses like tattoo parlours, gymnasiums and things like that where they might be involved have been closed down, it's made it very difficult for them to operate," she said.
