House fire leads to marijuana crop discovery in Sydney

A hydroponic set-up has been discovered at a residence in Sydney after the home went up in flames overnight.

Firefighters found the house on Canterbury Road in Canterbury well alight when they arrived just after 11.55pm yesterday.

Station officer Chris Dascolias told 9news.com.au the fire was “fairly fierce” when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Once the blaze was brought under control firefighters went inside to make sure no one was trapped, and discovered the hydroponic cannabis set-up.

No one was home at the time of the blaze.

It’s understood the home is one of three in the area that was recently sold.
