House fire caught on camera in Port Kennedy thought suspicious
A house fire which spewed black smoke over a Perth suburb this morning is being investigated as suspicious.
A call was made to 000 just after nine this morning alerting emergency services to the blaze.
Six fire crews fought the fire on Gonville Green in Port Kennedy on the southern edge of Perth.
The fire was under control shortly after 11am, but not before neighbours managed to capture the billowing thick smoke and the red glow from the flames on their phones.
A representative of St John Ambulance services confirmed that they transferred one member of the public to Rockingham General Hospital who was treated for smoke inhalation.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said an estimated $250,000 in damage was done.
Fire investigators believe the blaze was suspicious and have handed a brief to police to investigate.
