TODAY hosts horse around with their own mini-Melbourne Cup
All eyes might be focused on Flemington this afternoon – but this morning it was all about the TODAY show’s mini-Melbourne Cup as Karl Stefanovic, Deborah Knight, Sylvia Jeffreys and Richard Wilkins saddled up and raced across the Channel 9 car park.
While no one was placing bets on the foursome, competition was fierce as the TODAY show hosts donned silks, hats and horseheads for their dash.
Stay tuned to 9news.com.au for all the latest photos, fashions and results from the field.
Sylvia Jeffreys took the race out in style – dressed as Lucia Valentina’s rider in the purple silks – after leaping over a hay bale she crossed the finish line well ahead of the rest of the field.
“It was a good race – this horse was built for that track,” she said.
The Newcastle-trained horse and jockey Kerrin McEvoy are a serious chance for Cup glory today with bookies giving the four-year-old mare $7 odds to win.
