Horses sprayed with fire extinguisher in drive-by attack

A man accused of injuring two horses by spraying them with a toxic fire extinguisher has faced court charged with animal cruelty.

Giobi Geiger, 20, faced Rockhampton Magistrates Court for the first time yesterday over the attack involving Clydesdale horses Bailey and Kenny.

CCTV footage from outside a local pub shows a car driving past the horses before a long streak of white mist shoots from the vehicle and wafts over the animals.

Geiger allegedly pulled the trigger on the chemical which was unleashed on the horses last month.

At the time of the attack on January 8, Steve May from Capricorn Carriages said he was shocked it happened.

"I was just totally shocked, I was bewildered about anyone even contemplating doing something like that," he said.

In court yesterday Geiger appeared remorseful, but his attitude changed when he walked outside with his nanna.

Walking past reporters Geiger asked one of them "can you put your pants on please mate?"

He did not respond to questions before getting in a car and driving away.

Geiger's case has been adjourned until later this month where more evidence is expected to be provided by police.
