A 73-year-old was threatened with large knife when three men broke into her Sydney home and demanded drugs.

Marla Priest was confronted by the armed men – believed to be in their 20s - when she followed her cat to the back of her Glebe studio terrace, in Sydney’s inner west, about 9.30pm yesterday.

“I opened my back door and got one foot out, next thing I know I was grabbed and turned around,” Ms Priest told 9NEWS.

The trio stormed into the home, pushed Ms Priest up against a wall and held a blade to her throat as they demanded she hand over any drugs in the house.

Ms Priest told her attackers she did not use drugs and they would find none inside.

She said they then told her to go next door and ask her neighbour to open their door.

After she knocked on the door the trio charged inside.

NSW Police told 9NEWS a female neighbour was threatened with a knife before the three men made off with cash and cigarettes.

Police are now hunting the three men involved.
