A former NSW state minister has put her hand up to run for the Nationals in the highly contested federal seat of Gilmore.

Katrina Hodgkinson was primary industries minister in NSW before retiring in 2017, but confirmed she wants to run against Liberal candidate Warren Mundine and Liberal-turned-independent Grant Schultz for the right to replace retiring Liberal MP Ann Sudmalis.

"I have expressed an interest to the party about the seat of Gilmore, and that is something is currently being considered by the NSW division," Ms Hodgkinson told WIN News on Monday.
