NSW man charged with 18 historical child sex offences

An elderly NSW man is to face court on 18 charges of sexually assaulting young girls in the Newcastle area in the 1970s.
The 77-year-old man was arrested in Forster on Tuesday and will face Newcastle court on Wednesday, police said.
He's been charged with 18 historical child sex offences including 16 counts of indecently assaulting a person under the age of 16, and one count of intercourse with a person under the age of 10 years.

The offences allegedly took place between 1973 and 1977.
The accused was refused bail and is set to appear in Newcastle Local Court on September 28.
