Officers at Sydney Airport have stopped two men from allegedly importing ecstasy and heroin into Australia.

Australian Customs and Border Protection Service officers seized about half a kilogram of MDMA hidden in bottles of bath salts and baby powder.

It was allegedly found on a 45-year-old British man during a baggage examination from his flight from Hong Kong on Wednesday.

In a separate incident, a 38-year-old Canadian man travelling from Dubai was stopped when officers noticed the man's suitcase was unusually heavy.

An X-ray revealed several kilograms of white powder concealed in a suitcase, with tests allegedly indicating the substance to be heroin.

Both men have been referred to the Australian Federal Police.
