Hero tradie helps save elderly man from burning Brisbane home

A quick-thinking tradie is being praised for bravery after helping an 84-year-old man escape his burning home in Brisbane’s south.

Jesse Blake broke down the door and dragged the homeowner out when the fire at the Coorparoo home started just after midnight.

“I got him out of the house and once he was out, the police helped him get across the road,” Mr Blake said.

“He was very shocked and bewildered. He looked so out of it, so I tried to help him as much as I could. I’m just glad I found it.”

Fire investigators confirmed a faulty fan started the blaze, however crews will remain on scene to monitor possible flare-ups.

The elderly man was treated for smoke inhalation.
