Pursuit of allegedly stolen car caught on dashcam

A Gold Coast car chase with an allegedly stolen vehicle has ended in a crash that was captured on dashcam footage.

Police allege a 31-year-old man stole a motorbike from Watson Esplanade in Surfer's Paradise, placing it on the back of a ute at about 6am today.

He then allegedly drove to Biggera Waters where he attempted to steal a jetski before the ute became wedged between two concrete pylons.

The man then allegedly abandoned the ute and took off on foot.

Patrolling officers saw the man walking on a road in Pimpama and gave chase.

The man then allegedly stole a car from Curtis Street Vet in Pimpama. 

Dashcam footage from the stolen vehicle captured the moments during the pursuit, where it is shown veering off the road to overtake other vehicles, even going on the footpath to try and escape the police.

As the driver speeds down Discovery Drive in Helensvale, police sirens can be heard in the background.

When the stolen car approaches a roundabout at high speed, police were able to stop it with a tyre deflation device, bringing the pursuit to a crashing end.

With their tasers drawn, police are heard yelling: "Show us your hands, get your hands out mate. Take that belt off now. Hands out."

The man was hospitalised with just some cuts and bruises and has been charged with a number of offences including vehicle theft, unlawful use of a vehicle, enter premises with intent to commit an offence and drug related offences.

He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Southport Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
