Heat records tumble Australia-wide after fourth warmest July on record

We are in the depths of winter, yet if you think it's been milder than normal, then you are spot on.

Both overnight and daytime temperatures hovered above average across nearly all of the country.

According to data collected by the Bureau of Meteorology, July 2019 was the fourth warmest on record for Australia as a whole.

Large parts of NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Southern WA have had long stretches of balmy winter days, which were not only warmer than average, but drier too, so July brought no relief from the crippling drought conditions currently gripping inland Australia.
