Newly-appointed Health Minister Greg Hunt has tripped off stage after a speech at an Ovarian Cancer breakfast in Parliament House.

Mr Hunt lost his footing in front of a packed audience at the teal ribbon breakfast, only seconds after finishing his speech.

He quickly recovered from the awkward stumble, taking his seat with a smile beside Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.

Last week, Mr Hunt announced subsidised access to new drugs for ovarian and lung cancer, reducing the cost of treatment from thousands of dollars to just $38.80 for general patients, and $6.30 for concession.

The event is one of many as part of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and featured a panel of women who discussed living with the illness.

Other attendees included One Nation’s Pauline Hanson and Labor’s deputy leader Tanya Plibersek.
