Headscarf could help identify woman whose body was found wrapped in cloth in Melbourne’s north

A headscarf could be a vital clue to a woman’s identity, after her body was found dumped in a car park in Dallas last Friday.

Her body was located by a jogger about 1.30pm in the car park of a tennis club on Hepburn street, with homicide squad detectives hoping someone may be able to identify a distinct headscarf found with the body.

The woman is believed to be in her 40s, of Middle Eastern appearance, about 158cm tall with a slight to medium build.

Detective Inspector Stephen Dennis said the item “may be a headscarf, or an item of significance”.

“It’s brown in colour and has some fairly distinctive beading, we are appealing for anyone who may recognise that item to come forward,” Det. Insp Dennis said today.

“It has been several days today, and it’s of some concern that no one has come forward to report anyone missing.”

Police confirmed there were “injuries” to the body, but would not specify on the severity or location of the injuries.
