Hawthorn premiership captain Luke Hodge caught drink driving

Hawthorn Hawks captain Luke Hodge has received a $450 fine and lost ten demerit points after he was caught drink-driving last night.

The club issued a statement earlier today and said the AFL player was driving home from a social event when he registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.068.

Club spokesman Chris Fagan said Hodge is "extremely remorseful" and embarrassed over the incident.

"Luke understands that as a father of two young boys, and a leader of our footy club, he is in a position to set an example for the community in regards to road safety, and is extremely remorseful."

The club said they would not be punishing the skipper for his actions.

They also said Hodge had told the club immediately and fully cooperated with the police.
