Revealed: The most difficult suburbs in Australia to find a rental

As Australia's rental crisis drags on, new data from MCG Quantity Surveyors' has revealed the postcodes with the lowest rental listings in December.

"In areas like Greater Sydney and Regional NSW, we're seeing a significant crunch in available rentals, putting immense pressure on renters," said Mike Mortlock, Managing Director of MCG Quantity Surveyors.

"Regions like Greater Melbourne and Greater Brisbane, which traditionally have robust rental markets, are showing an alarming decrease in rental listings."

Here are the suburbs where it's hardest to find an available rental property.

The Sutherland area stood out for its rental scarcity.

The suburb of Oyster Bay, located about 26km south of Sydney's CBD, had only one rental listed in December.

This is despite having 101 private rentals situated within the area.

Mount Vernon is situated halfway between Penrith and Liverpool in Western Sydney.

The suburb advertised just two out of its 115 listed rental properties for lease in December.

The regional town, which means "near the sea", has 115 rental properties all up.

The suburb of Upwey, located about 33 kilometres east of the Melbourne CBD, had just one out of 147 rentals available for lease.
