Hooked whaler shark bitten in half by circling hammerhead

A hammerhead shark has torn a whaler shark in half off the coast of WA.
The brutal video was filmed by deckhand Wes Jones on a charter for Peak Sportfishing near Exmouth.
The hooked whaler shark never stood a chance as the hammerhead zeroes in on its target.

The monstrous specimen thrashes on the surface of the ocean as it latches on to the tail of the whaler shark.
Eventually the smaller fish is sliced in half.
The video has been viewed on the Peak Sportfishing Facebook page more than 57,000 times since it was posted yesterday.
Nine.com.au has contacted the anglers for further comment.
