Teen trick-or-treater facing serious eye damage after being shot in face with paintballs

A teenage boy may face permanent eye damage after he and a friend were shot with paintball pellets while trick-or-treating in the Sunshine Coast overnight.

The 15-year-old boys were both hit in the face when a ute drove up and down Pelican Waters Boulevard in Caloundra, firing a paint ball guns at people trick-or-treating for Halloween.

One of the boys was struck in his right eye and is facing serious eye damage.

Police have spoken to teenage boys aged 17 and 18 in relation to the incident.

Charges are expected to be laid later today.

It’s understood the 15-year-old boys had been at a home at West Holm Street playing basketball with friends, before deciding to go trick-or-treating as a group as a safety precaution.

Witness Stephanie Keenan said the shooting was ridiculous.

"It's a silly thing to do with kids out," she said.

When 9NEWS regional camera crews arrived at the scene last night, their vehicle was pelted with eggs.
