Man throws pot plants and wine bottles to alert neighbours of daylight home invasion
A man has been forced to smash a window and scream for help following a terrifying home invasion in Melbourne's north.
Police say the offender gained access to the 47-year-old's home on Staley Street in Brunswick about 9am, Thursday morning.
The victim, Brendan said he opened the door after noticing a "suspicious" man standing in his stairwell, when the man allegedly pulled out a gun.

He said the man stormed into his home, and he was forced to fight him off.
The victim said he soon began throwing pot plants and wine bottles out of his window to alert neighbours of the confrontation.
"It dawned on me that I might be killed and it might happen with no one being aware of it," he said.

The victim received minor injuries from breaking the window.
The offender is believed to have fled the scene.
