Gunman in custody following Florida bank siege

An armed man has been arrested after taking eleven people hostage during a bank robbery in Jacksonville, Florida.
Local police received a call around 9am Thursday local time (1am today AEDT) to reports a gunman was inside a Community First Credit Union, the Florida Times Union reports.
Police responded and a SWAT unit and armoured vehicle was dispatched, prompting a siege situation.
Officers attempted to negotiate with the armed man who became agitated, threatening to kill some of the hostages.
When two of the hostages attempted to flee, distracting the man, SWAT members stormed the building, disarming and arresting the suspect.
The hostages were freed at around 11am local time (3am AEDT). No injuries were reported.
The gunman remains in police custody.
