GST row becoming a circus, Barnett says

West Australian premier Colin Barnett has accused the federal government of allowing the GST distribution debate to degenerate into a circus of states criticising states.

"It's a commonwealth decision, not a state decision, so there is no point the states arguing with each other because we don't have a say," Mr Barnett told Fairfax radio in Perth on Thursday.

The premier is due to arrive in Canberra shortly for talks with Treasurer Joe Hockey about a Grants Commission recommendation that WA's GST share be allowed to fall to 30 cents in the dollar.
