Griggs' cringeworthy soapie cameo

It is the soapie cameo Johanna Griggs would rather we didn’t know about.

But the much-loved Australian TV presenter has had to confront her awkward acting chops after a clip surfaced of her brief appearance in a Home and Away episode 22 years ago.

The video snippet, filmed in 1992, shows the former swimmer as a leggy young blonde in a short, tight dress playing the role of a man-eating Swedish tourist.

The 40-year-old Better Homes And Gardens host told the Daily Telegraph she started "hyperventilating" after waking up yesterday morning and seeing that someone had posted it online.

"Do you know how long I have been able to keep that a secret," she was quoted as saying.

"My husband hasn't even seen it.

"Everyone has a dark little secret don’t they?"

Griggs said she was taking time off from swimming following illness and doing some modelling when the acting gig came up.

She described her accent as "bogan Swedish" and said the film crew had to do about 15 takes because everyone kept bursting into laughter.

"I decided then I was never going to act (again)," she said.
