Griffith boy, 9, dies days after being pulled from public pool unconscious

A NSW family has been rocked by the death of a nine-year-old boy just days before Christmas, after he was pulled from a public swimming pool unconscious.

The boy, who police believe suffered from a medical condition, was found slumped in the water near the side of a pool in Griffith last Friday.

A parent pulled the boy from the pool before lifesavers commenced CPR.

Paramedics and local police officers rushed to the scene and the boy was taken to Griffith Hospital.

Despite their efforts, the boy died in hospital yesterday.

Police have launched an investigation, but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
