The Greens won't support a delay in changing the Senate voting system, says party leader Richard Di Natale.

A number of crossbench senators are backing a motion in the Senate to ensure the proposed new rules come into effect in August, meaning they could not be used at a double-dissolution before then.

Senator Di Natale told reporters in Canberra on Wednesday he supported the government's timetable of passing the laws in mid-March.
