Greens seek changes to aircraft noise laws

The Greens are proposing new laws to force the government agency in charge of air traffic to tell affected residents of changes to flight paths.

Adam Bandt's private bill, presented to parliament on Monday, also requires Airservices Australia to consult communities about impacts to residential areas and the establishment of an aircraft noise ombudsman.

As it stands, affected communities can seek voluntary agreements with aircraft operators.
