Greens party leader lays out policy vision

Greens leader Richard Di Natale has outlined a plan to reform Australia, reflecting on his anger over the revolving door of prime ministers.

The minor party is pushing for action on climate change, a more generous welfare system and an end to corporate donations.

Senator Di Natale launched an attack on major parties in a blistering speech in the upper house at the height of the Liberals' leadership tensions.

In a speech in Melbourne on Sunday night, the Greens leader said his anger stemmed from politicians more interested in settling scores than representing people who elected them.

He said Australia had 10 years of prime ministers refusing to take action to prevent climate change, while corporate mates and political donors were kept happy.

"No wonder we're bloody angry," Senator Di Natale said.

The Greens also want a federal corruption commission, as well as wideranging tax reforms including closing loopholes for dodging payments.

Senator Di Natale also took aim at One Nation leader Pauline Hanson, likening her to US President Donald Trump and the Brexit campaign.

"They manufacture the fiction that migrants are causing these problems and they pretend to speak for those left behind," he said.

He said the coalition looked less like a party of government and more like One Nation every day.

"Our first priority is to turf this mob out. They don't deserve to govern," the Greens leader said.
