Greens leave door open on plebiscite bill

Greens leader Richard Di Natale has not ruled out supporting legislation for a plebiscite on same-sex marriage.

The Greens don't support holding a national poll on the issue because of fears it could unleash hate speech, but flagged there would be discussion on the matter if the alternative was killing off the issue for another three years.

"We will wait until we see the details of any legislation before making a final decision," Senator Di Natale told the National Press Club on Thursday.
