Govt says no backflip on disability job

The federal government is searching for a new disability discrimination commissioner - but hasn't decided whether it will be a stand-alone gig.

Labor jumped on the posting of ad for the position on Friday, calling it a backflip after the government scrapped the stand-alone job in 2014 and merged it with the age discrimination commissioner's job.

But a spokesman for Attorney-General George Brandis said no decisions have been made regarding the division of roles between commissioners, with positions for the human rights and age commissioners also up for renewal.
