Govt may have broader look at super tax

The Abbott government may take a broader look at superannuation and retirement in terms of the taxation system, Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says.

Treasurer Joe Hockey released his tax discussion paper last week, which sparked much debate particularly over superannuation tax concessions.

The government is also still trying to make a breakthrough in pension reform.

Mr Frydenberg says Mr Hockey is giving a lot of thought to the idea of a broader review.

"We are certainly attracted to this idea because you can't look at any particular issue in isolation," he told Sky News on Sunday.
