Government set to compromise over Defence Force pay dispute: reports
Concessions are on the way for Defence Force personnel as the controversial pay deal looms, according to recent reports.
Labor leader Bill Shorten said the wages should keep up with the cost of living.
The reported eleventh hour compromise would return one day of leave, and the pay increase would remain at 1.5 percent per year for three years.
"We're not arrogant enough to say whatever we came up with in these areas cannot be improved," Trade Minister Andrew Robb told ABC Insiders.
Tomorrow Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie will present a petition demanding greater pay increases.
"There's been a very strong ground swell of disgust and dismay at the government's decision in relation to the Defence Force pay case," Les Bienkiewicz from the Defence Force Welfare Association said.
