Government lists leukaemia treatment

Patients with two rare types of leukaemia will be able to access a key medicine at a fraction of its normal $66,500 cost.

The federal government is investing $20 million over five years to list Iclusig, a treatment for sufferers of chronic myeloid leukaemia and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

Health Minister Sussan Ley on Monday said 125 Australian patients would now pay just $6.10 (concessional) or $37.70 (general).
