Heart-stopping vision has emerged of a reckless prankster diving from a 50-storey high-rise, in a dangerous stunt that could have turned deadly.

A Gold Coast daredevil, known as 'Shammi' and describes himself as Superman, uploaded the video to Instagram where it has already been viewed more than 57,000 times.

The person can be seen leaping from The Meriton in Southport, coming dangerously close to slamming into a number of other high-rises, before a parachute breaks his fall.

“Base jumping 50 stories from our room,” the caption on the post reads.

“Told you I’m Superman.”

It’s not the first time self-described “social media entertainer” Shammi Prasad has made headlines, after police were called in 2016 during another one of his internet pranks.

Prasad’s real-life girlfriend, pretending to be asleep on a couch, was dragged down a street screaming for help, before shocked neighbours called authorities.

9NEWS understands the latest video was filmed several months ago.

While they wouldn’t comment on it specifically, Queensland Police said anyone caught engaging in this sort of risky behaviour faced one year behind bars or a fine in the thousands of dollars.

Prasad has been contacted for comment, while The Meriton said he had since left the building.
