Teen bashed in her car in peak-hour road rage attack

A Gold Coast teenager has been bashed inside her own car in a road rage attack on the Pacific Motorway.

The young woman, who didn't wish to be identified, told 9NEWS she is horrified at the thought of getting behind the wheel again after being set upon by another woman during peak-hour yesterday.

After merging onto the M1 at Worongary just after 7am, the 18-year-old was tailgated for kilometres before pulling over.

"I tried getting out of her way and like slowing down and stuff... But she was shouting at me from her window," she said.

"She then punched me in the face and on the side. But I didn't know what to do so all I said was sorry, instinctively, to get her to stop."

"It has definitely shaken me up a bit. And.. going to drive has scared me."

Queensland Police Senior Sergeant Graeme Robertson urged drivers to be mindful of each other.

"Safety should be the number one concern for us," he said.

The woman is described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged in her 40s, with an average build, blonde/grey hair and decayed teeth.

Her vehicle is described as a white dual-cab ute.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have dash-cam vision, to contact them.
