The 58-year-old man was walking along a popular track in the Springbrook National Park in the hinterland yesterday afternoon when he fell.

Assistant Executive Manager at Queensland Ambulance Service, Adam Flory, said a rescue helicopter had to be deployed after paramedics winched their way to the patient.
"A long, windy tracks that we face in the national park, actually makes it very hard to extricate critical patients in that environment," he said.
"Cases like these, when you've got to go into a national park, are very prolonged ... there is a whole different degree of risk involved.
"Hence the activation of the rescue helicopter."
