Police charge 40 people with drug and property offences after Gold Coast raids

Forty people have been charged with drug and property offences after raids across the Gold Coast yesterday.

Ice, cocaine, cannabis, steroids, weapons, stolen diamonds, fireworks and other stolen property were seized during 28 search warrants across the city.

Charges were laid on 113 offences including break and enter, stealing, unlawful possession of weapons, evade police and a variety of drug offences.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Gold Coast CIB said further arrests are expected.

“Those involved in drug and property crime need to understand; if they continue to offend they will be targeted,” Detective Inspector Smith said.

“We will come back as many times as it is necessary until their behaviour changes.

“The community expect us to do this and accordingly, we will be unrelenting in our efforts.”

All those charged will appear in Southport Magistrates’ Court over the coming month.
