Beach shack with ties to old surf club set to fetch millions

A classic beach shack with a whole lot of Gold Coast history has hit the market and could fetch $3 million once it goes under the hammer.

Located at 13 Ocean Street in Burleigh, the retro home was built with materials from the original Mermaid Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

Timber from the old clubhouse was repurposed for the three-bedroom, two-bathroom shack around 1950.

"I'd imagine that it would be a few pieces from the original weatherboard in the old surf club," Daniel Donovan from Ray White Burleigh Group said.

The property was last sold in 2017 for $1.5 million and could potentially fetch double that figure this time around if neighbouring sales are anything to go by.

"Next door's a really good sale," Donovan said.

"That sold at auction a few weeks ago... same block, same frontage and that sold for $3.66 million."

Donovan said the larger block could provide an opportunity for developers.

Thirteen Ocean Street is set to be auctioned on November 29.
