Sydney property developer’s waterfront home targeted twice by arsonists

A Sydney property developer and his family say they “fear for their safety” after their home was targeted by arsonists twice in one month.

CCTV showed two hooded men arrive at the home on Pile Street, Gladesville, about 3.30am today.

The pair could be seen setting a gas canister on fire, and throwing it over a hedge on the property, before fleeing the scene.

It is believed the presumed aim was a number of empty gas cylinders, which were found resting near the family’s two luxury cars.

The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, said he heard the massive explosion as his wife and four young boys slept. None of the family were injured in the blaze.

It is the second fire at the premises in the last month and police believe the attacks are targeted.

The homeowner told 9NEWS he believed the offenders may be seeking revenge for business dealings gone wrong.

“It’s sad because they are very nice people. Very beautiful neighbours, (a) good family and they never cause harm to anyone,” neighbour George Assaf said.

Police said it was likely one of the offenders suffered burns injuries in today’s incident.
