Girl dies in mobility scooter crash

A nine-year-old girl has died after crashing a mobility scooter northwest of Brisbane yesterday afternoon.

The girl was riding the scooter with a four-year-old boy on a dirt road at Laceys Creek, a rural suburb in Moreton Bay, about 2pm when it left the road and crashed into a large culvert, police report.

A woman called emergency services but paramedics were unable to revive the girl and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boy was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
