Home invader assaulted 11-year-old NSW girl in her bedroom

An 11-year-old girl has been indecently assaulted by a man who broke into her New South Wales South Coast home while she was there alone.

The man entered the girl's bedroom and assaulted her between 8.45pm and 10pm yesterday, and then fled the scene when the girl's mother drove into the driveway of the Lake Tabourie house, police said in a statement.

He remains on the run despite an extensive police search.

The man is described as having a solid build, and was wearing a long dark-coloured coat at the time.

The home has since been examined by forensic officer specialists.
